Synopsis
Turbo Kid (2015) is a post-apocalyptic action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It unfolds in the "future" of 1997: a scorched wasteland, rusted BMX bikes instead of cars, and an orphaned teen who hoards comics about a hero called Turbo.
One day the kid digs up a laser gauntlet straight out of his favorite issue, and enemies start coming apart in geysers of gore. Around the same time he meets Apple, an oddly cheerful girl who simply decides they are friends now and never lets go. The catch: the wasteland answers to a one-eyed warlord named Zeus, who harvests water by a method you would rather not learn in advance.
The directing trio RKSS — siblings Anouk and Yoann-Karl Whissell with François Simard — built a love letter to 1980s VHS action: a synthwave score, practical effects and buckets of fake blood.
