Synopsis
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) is the sixth and originally concluding chapter of the Elm Street franchise — watch it online on iFILM. Director Rachel Talalay takes the series into origin territory: why did Freddy Krueger become Freddy Krueger? The answer involves a neglected childhood, a compulsion to kill, a legal loophole that set him free, and a mob of grieving parents who took matters into their own hands.
Robert Englund is back under the burned mask, this time matched against psychologist Maggie Burroughs (Lisa Zane), who meets a patient drowning in the same recurring nightmares. Their search for answers pulls them straight back to Elm Street. The 93-minute film squeezes in cameos from Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, and Tom Arnold, making it something of a pop-culture time capsule from the early 1990s horror scene.
