Synopsis

The Oxford Murders (2008) is Álex de la Iglesia's mystery thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A string of killings at the ancient university is tied together by mathematical symbols, and a logic professor teams up with his student to crack the sequence.

Elijah Wood plays a young grad student who comes to Oxford to study under a living legend, Professor Arthur Seldom, played by John Hurt. The first to die is the landlady whose room the student rents, and a note bearing a symbol is left by the body. More victims follow, each marked with the next sign in a logical series. To stop the killer, the pair must work out the pattern before he makes his next move, and decide whether a single absolute truth even exists.

Adapted from a novel by Argentine mathematician Guillermo Martínez, the film sits where detective fiction meets philosophy: Gödel's theorem, a serial murderer, and an argument over what can ever truly be proven. British academic Gothic steered by a Spanish director with a taste for the strange. It suits viewers who like puzzle-box mysteries where the why matters more than the who.
