Synopsis
Beerfest (2006) is Jay Chandrasekhar's rowdy comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Brothers Todd and Jan Wolfhouse travel to Germany to scatter their grandfather's ashes and stumble onto Beerfest — a secret, underground Olympics of competitive drinking.
Their German cousins humiliate them at the games and pour them under the table for good measure. Stung, the brothers vow to come back in a year and recruit a homegrown squad of dedicated drunks: a professor, a sleight-of-hand carnival man, a strip-club regular. What follows is brutal liver training, a long-lost family beer recipe, and a rematch the team will swallow gallons of lager to win.
This comes from the Broken Lizard troupe, the same crew behind Super Troopers, so the humor runs crude, absurd and frequently filthy — refinement is not on the menu. Jürgen Prochnow and Cloris Leachman turn up in gleefully against-type roles. It's the perfect pick for a loud night with friends; the fewer sober people in the room, the funnier it gets.
