Man of the House

Man of the House (2005) is a Stephen Herek action-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Hard-nosed Texas Ranger Roland Sharp is used to closing cases with a revolver and a dry comeback, until a new assignment leaves him completely out of his depth: bodyguard duty for five college cheerleaders.

Tommy Lee Jones plays the whole thing stone-faced, a man who would rather chase a drug kingpin than share a house with a squad of giggling students. The University of Texas cheerleaders happened to witness a murder, which makes them the only witnesses in a major case. To shield them, Sharp moves in undercover as an assistant cheer coach, and a relentless prank war breaks out that the grizzled ranger keeps losing.

The whole movie rides on that contrast, a glowering Jones marooned in a pink world of pom-poms and roommate squabbles.
