Synopsis
Major League (1989) is a baseball comedy by David S. Ward that you can watch online on iFILM. The Cleveland Indians' new owner wants to move the franchise to Miami, and the only way out is a losing season.
So she builds a roster designed to lose. Hire the worst players money can scrape together, tank the year, skip town. The math is clean. The season is not. Pitcher Ricky Vaughn (Charlie Sheen) throws absolute heat and has no idea where it's going. Aging catcher Jake Taylor (Tom Berenger) drags two bad knees and one unfinished romance back onto the field. Vain slugger Roger Dorn (Corbin Bernsen) and a young, fleet-footed Wesley Snipes round out the misfits — who, against every plan, start winning.
The film spawned a whole franchise and still gets quoted at ballparks, helped by real broadcaster Bob Uecker playing a gloriously bad announcer. Here's the angle: it's one of those rare sports comedies that lands even if you couldn't explain a single rule of the game. Stream Major League (1989) online on iFILM.
