Synopsis

The case lands on Inspector Kildare, partly so there's someone to blame if it falls apart. Running alongside it is the trial of a young music-hall actress accused of poisoning her husband, and her fate turns out to be tangled up with the hunt for the Golem. Kildare works through a roster of real historical suspects, and the film lets us watch each one play the murderer in turn. Bill Nighy is the detective near the end of his career; Olivia Cooke is the actress at the heart of both cases.
