About

Synopsis

Frenzy (1972) is Alfred Hitchcock's British thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A killer is loose in London, strangling women with a necktie, and the whole city is on edge.

Suspicion lands on Richard Blaney, a short-tempered, perpetually broke drifter who happened to quarrel with his former wife right before she turned up dead. The evidence stacks against him a little too neatly, the police rush to charge their man, and Blaney goes on the run to clear his name. The audience, meanwhile, already knows the face of the real murderer. John Finch, Barry Foster and Alec McCowen, as the dogged Inspector Oxford, lead the cast.

This was Hitchcock's penultimate film and his homecoming to the London he grew up in after decades in Hollywood. Freed from studio censorship, he shot it with a bluntness his earlier work never allowed — and staged one murder by having the camera retreat down the stairs, leaving the horror to the imagination.
