Synopsis
The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007) is a found-footage horror thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director John Erick Dowdle crafted this 84-minute MGM and Orion Pictures production as a mock-documentary, presenting the events through interrogation footage, expert interviews, and the killer's own recordings.
Police raiding a house in Poughkeepsie stumble onto hundreds of videotapes — a serial killer's self-shot archive spanning years of crimes. Stacy Chbosky plays Cheryl Dempsey, one of the victims whose fate unravels across the tapes. FBI analysts spend months going through every frame. The more they watch, the more it becomes clear the man behind the camera was methodical, patient, and never left a clean lead.
Filmed in 2007 but held back from wide release until 2017, the movie built a cult following in the found-footage genre long before it reached most viewers. Stream The Poughkeepsie Tapes online on iFILM.
