Rebecca

Rebecca (2020) is Ben Wheatley's gothic romance and thriller, adapted from Daphne du Maurier's novel and ready to watch online on iFILM. A shy lady's companion meets wealthy widower Maxim de Winter in Monte Carlo, and a fast, dizzy courtship ends in marriage.

The new Mrs. de Winter, played by Lily James, arrives at Manderley, Maxim's grand Cornwall estate. The place still belongs to his first wife, the dead Rebecca — her taste, her rooms, her monogram on every handkerchief. And then there's housekeeper Mrs. Danvers, played with chilly menace by Kristin Scott Thomas, who treats the bride as an intruder. The longer the young wife stays, the tighter the dead woman's grip on the house closes around her.

Wheatley remakes a story Hitchcock first filmed in 1940, trading black-and-white dread for lavish color and creeping paranoia.
