The Good Neighbor

The Good Neighbor (2016) is a psychological thriller starring James Caan that you can watch online on iFILM. Two high schoolers run a cruel experiment on the old man next door, and it slips out of their control.

The boys love making amateur films and want to prove they can make anyone believe anything. Their target is Harold Grainger, a withdrawn widower living alone down the street. They wire his house with hidden cameras and stage a fake haunting — doors slamming, lights flicking on by themselves, voices from empty rooms. They expect terror. Instead the man stays oddly calm, as if he's hiding something of his own. The cast features Logan Miller, Keir Gilchrist, and Lili Reinhart before her Riverdale run.

Director Kasra Farahani shoots much of it found-footage style, so we watch the victim through the same lenses the teens do. The real hook is how fast you stop being sure who's actually in danger here. It's a small, contained thriller for fans of quiet suspense with a moral trap and a turn you won't see coming.
