Synopsis
Sanctum (2011) is a survival thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Shot on location in Australia and built for 3D, it was produced by James Cameron, and his obsession with deep-water filmmaking shows in every submerged frame.
A team of divers is mapping Esa-ala, one of the largest and least-charted cave systems on Earth, buried in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. Seasoned diver Frank leads the descent alongside his estranged seventeen-year-old son Josh and Carl, the financier footing the bill. Then a tropical storm tears in above them, seals off the exit, and the only way out becomes the way down — through a flooded labyrinth toward an unknown opening to the sea.
Air runs low, the water keeps rising, and the film hardens into cold arithmetic: who makes it, and what gets sacrificed to get there. The story grew out of a real cave-diving disaster that nearly killed writer Andrew Wight. Anyone with a touch of claustrophobia should think twice — the pressure here is real.
