Thirteen Lives

Thirteen Lives (2022) is Ron Howard's survival drama you can watch online on iFILM. Twelve boys from a junior football team and their coach wander deep into a Thai cave, and a sudden downpour seals the way out behind them.

The water keeps rising. Within hours a maze of flooded passages becomes a trap that no ordinary rescue can crack. Two British amateur divers, played by Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell, fly in to attempt the impossible, while a seasoned diver played by Joel Edgerton joins the push underground. Above them, thousands of volunteers, soldiers, engineers and local farmers fight to pump and divert the floodwater long enough for the boys to be reached.

Howard recreates the operation under the Khun Nam mountain with little gloss: narrow shafts, brown water, oxygen counted by the minute. The film grew out of the summer of 2018, when the whole world held its breath over the same rescue. Stream Thirteen Lives (2022) online on iFILM.
