Broadway director Arnold (Owen Wilson) once paid Isabella (Imogen Poots) to leave her old life behind. Pile on a jealous playwright, a smitten leading man, and a therapist (Jennifer Aniston) whose own life is messier than any of her clients', and everyone is lying to everyone at once.

Bogdanovich openly revives the screwball comedies of old Hollywood: mistaken bedrooms, rapid-fire patter, and people running into each other at the worst possible moment.
