Synopsis

National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985) is a Chevy Chase comedy you can watch online on iFILM. The Griswolds win a game-show trip across Europe and proceed to unload all their American chaos onto the old continent.

Clark, played by Chevy Chase, is dead set on the perfect holiday and ruins it at every turn. In London he climbs behind the wheel and keeps driving on the right, flattening everything in his path. In Paris his wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) puts up with overly charming Frenchmen, daughter Audrey pines for the boyfriend she left in Chicago, and son Rusty goes looking for trouble. Then comes Germany, a Bavarian village and a bike race that ends the way every Griswold plan ends. Director Amy Heckerling plays it as flat-out farce with no breather. Eric Idle turns up as an absurdly polite Brit who keeps getting maimed by Clark.

This is the second entry in the Vacation series after the 1983 original, and the jokes run on the gap between the Europe Americans imagine and the one they actually stumble through. It's light, dumb and still funny, an easy pick for a family night. Stream National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985) online on iFILM.
