Tales from the Crypt (1989–1996) is HBO's cult horror anthology you can watch online on iFILM. Every episode is a self-contained tale of fright and gallows humor, tied together by one recurring figure: the cackling corpse known as the Crypt Keeper.

The Keeper, a puppet ghoul voiced with raspy glee by John Cassir, introduces each story, fires off ghastly puns, and tucks you back into the grave at the end. The plots come straight from the notorious 1950s EC Comics: greed punished, cheating spouses, killers, and twist endings where the wicked get exactly what they deserve. Directors like Robert Zemeckis, Walter Hill and Tobe Hooper took turns behind the camera, while guest faces included Tom Hanks, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael J. Fox and Lance Henriksen.

Freed from broadcast rules by premium cable, the show indulged in gore, nudity and mean-spirited satire that network TV couldn't touch, and across seven seasons it set the bar for the genre anthology.
