About

Synopsis

Kodachrome (2017) is a road-trip drama from director Mark Raso, and you can watch online on iFILM. Matt Ryder, a record-label man whose career is slipping away, reluctantly agrees to drive his dying father halfway across the country to the last lab on Earth still able to develop old Kodachrome film.

Ben Ryder (Ed Harris) is a famous photographer who spent decades being everything but a father. The clock is brutal: the Kansas lab shuts down any day now, and four undeveloped rolls are the last thing he wants to see. Three people share the car — Matt (Jason Sudeikis), bitter and guarded, Ben's nurse Zooey (Elizabeth Olsen), and an old man who never learned to apologize. The miles drag up everything they've all left unsaid.

The film runs on the analog-to-digital divide, both as metaphor and as fact, since Kodachrome really was discontinued in 2009. No big plot swerves here, just a strong Harris-Sudeikis pairing and warmth that builds slowly. It suits anyone who loves quiet movies about fathers and the kids who can't forgive them yet.
