Synopsis
About My Mom and Me (2024), watch online on iFILM — a Russian comedy-drama directed by Dmitry Gubarev, set in the Soviet Union of the 1970s. Lena is a schoolgirl whose essays read like short stories; her mother works in documentary film and carries her own set of problems she has not shared with anyone.
Nonna Grishaeva plays the mother, Katya Gontarenko plays Lena, and Alexander Oleshko rounds out the cast. The film is built around a timing coincidence: the daughter hits adolescence just as the mother hits her midlife drift, and neither of them is in any position to be the steady one.
