Synopsis
"The Chapel" (La ermita, 2023) is a Spanish supernatural horror you can watch online on iFILM. Director Carlota Pereda, who broke through internationally with Piggy (2022), applies the same disciplined tension to a story rooted in local legend: a centuries-old hermitage, a girl's spirit said to be trapped inside, and children who keep disappearing nearby.
Emma is determined to make contact with whatever is in that chapel. She needs Carol — a skeptical, worn-out medium played by Belén Rueda — to take her seriously. Carol would rather not. The chapel, as it turns out, has been waiting. Maia Zaitegi carries the film's emotional weight as Emma, and Rueda brings the kind of lived-in credibility that sells the supernatural without overselling it.
