Synopsis

Newcomer prospector Walter Moody steps ashore and is pulled almost at once into a web of strange events: a dead digger's cabin turns up a hidden fortune, and too many people in town know more than they will admit. Meanwhile Anna Wetherell (Eve Hewson) arrives from Britain chasing a fresh start and falls for Emery Staines. Their romance sets off the show's central riddle — do we shape our fate, or does it shape us? Behind the scheming sits Lydia Wells, a cold-eyed fortune-teller played by Eva Green.
Adapted from Eleanor Catton's Booker Prize-winning novel, with the author writing the scripts herself, the series keeps the book's astrological frame where every character has a star to answer to.
