Synopsis
Little House on the Prairie (1974–1983) is the NBC family drama and frontier western you can watch online on iFILM. It grew out of Laura Ingalls Wilder's autobiographical novels about growing up on the American frontier during the 1870s and 1880s.
The Ingalls family leaves the Wisconsin woods and settles on a farm outside Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Charles, played by Michael Landon, who also directed and produced much of the show, plows, builds and hunts to keep everyone fed; Caroline runs the home; and the daughters grow up around it all: thoughtful Mary, headstrong Laura, and little Carrie. Laura narrates, the same girl who would one day put these years down on paper.
Across nine seasons the prairie throws everything at them, from droughts and fires to a locust plague, sudden deaths, and quiet wins like a good harvest or a wedding. The series leans less on melodrama than on the steady belief that a hardworking family will, in the end, come out right, which is a big part of why parents keep handing it down to their kids.
