Synopsis
The Black Ball (La bola negra, 2026) is a Spanish drama from Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo that you can watch online on iFILM. It grew out of an unfinished play by Federico García Lorca.
The story splits across three moments in Spanish history — the Republic of 1932, the Civil War of 1937, and the present day of 2017. Each holds a young man, and their lives answer one another across the decades in political and emotional echoes. Over a running time past two and a half hours, scattered fates gather into a single constellation. Penélope Cruz, Glenn Close and Lola Dueñas appear in the cast.
Working as Los Javis, the directing pair built their name on bold Spanish television before reaching for something this large and somber — a slow, sensual film about memory, desire and the long shadow the Civil War still casts.
