The Island

The Island (一出好戏, 2018) is a Chinese tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. A low-level office worker has spent years buying lottery tickets, certain that one big win will finally lift him out of his dull, going-nowhere life.

Then it happens. During a company trip out to sea, he learns his numbers have come up and he's suddenly rich. The celebration doesn't last. A monstrous wave swamps the boat, and a handful of colleagues wash up on a deserted island. That winning ticket worth millions is now just paper — no banks, no shops, no bosses left to impress. What surfaces instead is who can actually survive and who only knew how to look busy at a desk. Team-building nobody signed up for.

Huang Bo, one of China's biggest box-office draws as an actor, makes his directing debut here and turned it into a major domestic hit.
