Synopsis
Bright Young Things (2003) is a British comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It marks Stephen Fry's debut as a director, adapted from Evelyn Waugh's novel Vile Bodies. The setting: London between the wars, where the cocktails never stop and the gossip columns run the social order.
Adam Symes wants to marry Nina Blount, but he is broke. Customs seizes his only manuscript, his advance evaporates, and the film follows his increasingly desperate schemes to scrape together wedding money. Around him spins a crowd of party-mad socialites — Miles, Agatha, Archie — who treat a tabloid scandal as the morning's main event. The same press that crowns them famous will turn on them without blinking.
The bit parts read like a roll call of British acting: Michael Sheen, James McAvoy, David Tennant, Stockard Channing, Peter O'Toole, Jim Broadbent, Dan Aykroyd. Fry turns Waugh's satire into something sharp and oddly tender — light as a champagne flute until the war arrives and the music stops. Stream Bright Young Things (2003) online on iFILM.
