Synopsis
"The Champ" (1931) is a family drama you can watch online on iFILM — directed by King Vidor for MGM. Wallace Beery plays Andy Purcell, a former world boxing champion who drinks too much, loses money at the tracks, and keeps failing on promises he can't keep.
His son Dink, played by Jackie Cooper, doesn't care about any of that. The kid idolizes him. The role got Beery his Best Actor Oscar; Cooper holds his own in every scene they share.
