Synopsis
Gunpowder (2017), Season 1 is a three-part BBC historical drama you can watch online on iFILM, set in an England where holding the wrong faith can get you killed.
It opens in 1603. The man at the centre is not Guy Fawkes but Robert Catesby, a young Warwickshire gentleman who has watched the persecution of Catholics tear his family apart. Episode one hardens his grief into a decision. From there the story tracks the recruiting trips across Europe, the secret meetings, and the slow assembly of the conspirators whose names history kept. By the third hour the barrels sit in the tunnels under Parliament, the King's spies are closing in, and a cornered priest, Father Garnet, holds a secret that could undo everything.
Kit Harington — a real descendant of Catesby — plays him cold and unromantic, a true believer who will not stop. A lean, unflinching miniseries about where religious terror begins. Stream Gunpowder Season 1 online on iFILM.
