Synopsis
The Overtaxed (I tartassati, 1959) is an Italian comedy by Steno you can watch online on iFILM. Fabric-shop owner Torquato Pezzella is dead certain the taxman takes too much, so hiding a slice of his income feels almost holy. His sworn opponent: a fussy, by-the-book tax inspector.
What follows is a duel between a schemer and a stickler. Pezzella buries his ledgers, talks in circles and distracts the inspector by every trick he can dream up. But the fight isn't only over lira — the inspector's daughter Laura falls for the merchant's son, so the two old rivals must wage war and make peace at the same time.
