About

Synopsis

Food, Inc. (2008) is Robert Kenner's documentary, available to watch online on iFILM. It traces how a handful of corporations came to control nearly every link of the American food chain — the farms, the slaughterhouses, the supermarket aisles, even the seeds.

Author Eric Schlosser narrates, and Michael Pollan walks through what really sits behind cheap chicken and identical burgers. The camera gets inside the places the industry would rather keep shut: industrial poultry barns and large-scale processing plants. Farmer Carole Morison shows what a contract with a poultry giant did to her land and her birds.

The film was up for the Academy Award for Best Documentary and pushed the conversation about how food is made into the mainstream. It argues with data, not shock alone — a good pick if you want to understand the machinery rather than just recoil from it. As the tagline warns, dinner won't look the same afterward.
