Synopsis
The Gendarme in New York (Le Gendarme à New-York, 1965) is the French comedy starring Louis de Funès that you can watch online on iFILM. A squad of small-town gendarmes from Saint-Tropez gets shipped across the Atlantic to represent France at an international police congress.
Cruchot, Merlot, Fougasse and the rest, led by Sergeant Gerber, board the ocean liner without a word of English between them. America is one big temptation. Worse, Cruchot's daughter Nicole sneaks aboard the same crossing as a stowaway, chasing the man of her dreams. If anyone finds out, her father's career is finished. De Funès, all rubber face and short fuse, owns every scene he's in.
