Synopsis
What's in a Name (Le Prénom, 2012) is a French comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière adapted their own hit stage play: one dinner party, one apartment in Paris, five people — and a single question that cracks the whole evening open.
Vincent, a well-off real estate agent, arrives at his sister Elizabeth's flat with childhood friend Claude. His wife Anna is running late. While they wait, someone asks what name he and Anna have chosen for their unborn son. Vincent answers. The room goes quiet, then awkward, then openly hostile. The name is just the match — the fuel is years of buried grievances, hidden loyalties and secrets that the group has been very careful not to say out loud. Patrick Bruel, Valérie Benguigui and Charles Berling make the confined space feel electric.
