Synopsis
In the House (Dans la maison, 2012) is a French drama-thriller by François Ozon you can watch online on iFILM. A burned-out literature teacher has given up on his students. Then one essay from the back row hooks him.
Sixteen-year-old Claude worms his way into a classmate's family and turns their living room into raw material for his writing. His teacher Germain (Fabrice Luchini) reads each installment like a cliffhanger, hungry for the next chapter, and barely notices the boy shifting from observer to puppeteer. Kristin Scott Thomas plays Germain's wife, whose art gallery is sinking; Emmanuelle Seigner is the mother whose ordinary home pulls the student back again and again.
Ozon builds a sly study of who really controls a story once it's set loose. The line between watching and meddling keeps blurring until you can't find it. The film took the Golden Shell at San Sebastián and walks a fine wire between comedy and dread. Great for anyone who likes a narrative that quietly eats itself.
