About

Synopsis

Stone (2010) is a psychological thriller with Robert De Niro and Edward Norton you can watch online on iFILM. Parole officer Jack Mabry is weeks from retirement, and one of his final files belongs to Gerald "Stone" Creeson, a convicted arsonist desperate to talk his way out.

Jack has heard every con before and is in no hurry to sign off. So Stone sends his wife, the unpredictable Lucetta, to get close to him — and the tidy life of a churchgoing family man starts coming apart at the seams. By the midpoint it's hard to say who's working whom: the guard with buried secrets of his own, or the inmate who suddenly seems to be finding a strange kind of faith. Milla Jovovich, as Lucetta, keeps both men dangling.

Director John Curran builds the film out of conversations, long pauses and creeping discomfort rather than plot twists. This is slow, heavy chamber drama for viewers who want talk and tension over action. De Niro and Norton play it almost entirely without big scenes, which only makes the unease bite harder.
