Synopsis

Scouts and photographers clock Jesse (Elle Fanning) almost instantly: she has the thing no one can fake. That drives two older models and a makeup artist named Ruby into a quiet frenzy, each hungry for what time is already taking from them. Empty mansions, casting calls, mirrors, and a predatory designer played by Alessandro Nivola surround her. Refn films the fashion world as a cult that feeds on youth, literally.
Shot as an international co-production across Denmark, France, Belgium and the U.S., the film rides a hypnotic synth score from Refn's regular composer Cliff Martinez, while cinematographer Natasha Braier soaks every frame in acid neon. Its Cannes premiere split the room down the middle. Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee and Keanu Reeves, cast against type as a vile motel owner, round out the players.
