November

November (Novembre, 2022) is a French crime thriller from Cédric Jimenez you can watch online on iFILM. It picks up in the hours after the coordinated attacks that struck Paris on the night of 13 November, and stays with the people hunting those responsible.

You barely see the violence itself. Instead the film locks onto the anti-terror unit run by Fred (Jean Dujardin) and the detective at his side, Héloïse (Anaïs Demoustier). Working off intercepts, tip-offs and grainy footage, they try to locate the survivors of the cell before another strike lands. The chase pushes out of the Paris suburbs and into Brussels. Lina Khoudri plays a witness whose single choice could break the whole case open.

Jimenez shoots it like a procedural with no air in the room: handheld cameras, almost no score, none of the usual flattery aimed at the security services. What sticks is the part the headlines skipped over, the exhaustion and the missteps and what a wasted minute actually costs.
