Synopsis

Harry (Chris Cooper) is a respectable married man who has fallen for a younger woman named Kay (Rachel McAdams). He wants to leave his wife Pat (Patricia Clarkson), but can't bring himself to put her through the indignity of divorce. The solution he lands on is considerably darker. His friend Richard (Pierce Brosnan) — a self-interested charmer who is also taken with Kay — sees what's unfolding and plays a quiet angle of his own. Clarkson is the reason to watch: Pat is no victim, and the film's real ambiguity sits entirely with her.
