Ben Mears (David Soul) returns to Salem's Lot to write about the Marsten House, the brooding mansion that scared him as a boy. By the time he arrives, it has new owners: the antique dealer Straker and his rarely seen partner, Barlow. Townsfolk begin to vanish, then drift back after dark with pale faces and a hunger for blood. Ben realizes an old-world vampire is dug in behind those walls, and the whole town is becoming his undead flock.

Hooper, the man behind The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, traded chainsaw shrieks for slow dread and turned Barlow into a silent, blue-skinned Nosferatu that horror fans quoted for decades.
