To halt the war, King Regis agrees to a humiliating peace — ceding his outer territories and pledging his son Noctis to Princess Lunafreya. The truce turns out to be a trap, and the city becomes a battlefield. In the English dub, Sean Bean voices Regis and Lena Headey plays Glauca, so Game of Thrones fans will catch familiar voices in the chaos.

The movie works as a prologue to the game Final Fantasy XV, built by Square Enix on the same photoreal tech that drives the title itself — faces, fabric and crumbling architecture rendered in obsessive detail.
