Synopsis
To Walk Invisible (2016) is a British period drama you can watch online on iFILM — Sally Wainwright's account of how three sisters in a Yorkshire parsonage produced Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Agnes Grey while nobody was watching. Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë published under male pen names because the alternative was not being read at all.
Their brother Branwell, played by Adam Nagaitis, is the film's disruptive centre: a former portrait painter and railway clerk who spent his last three years in a collapse of alcohol and laudanum after a ruinous affair. Finn Atkins, Chloe Pirrie, and Charlie Murphy play the sisters working around the wreckage — covering debts, managing their father's anxiety, writing in whatever quiet they can find. Jonathan Pryce plays Patrick Brontë with the controlled grief of a man who can see everything and change nothing.
Wainwright keeps the frame domestic and exact. The genius was forged in a cold house, between arguments and exhaustion — not in spite of that, but through it. Watch To Walk Invisible (2016) online on iFILM.
