The Dig

The find draws other appetites at once, as museum men jockey over who gets the credit while the shadow of the coming war settles over everyone. Carey Mulligan plays Edith with quiet fragility, Ralph Fiennes is the reticent Brown, and Lily James and Johnny Flynn carry a thread of private longing.

Adapted from John Preston's novel about the real 1939 discovery, this is slow, autumnal filmmaking about time, mortality, and what outlasts us.
