Season 1
Everything can change in a heartbeat.
Synopsis
Great Expectations (2011), Season 1 is the BBC's Dickens drama you can watch online on iFILM — just three episodes that compress the whole novel into one tight arc. No filler, no sprawl; the story of the orphan Pip moves fast.
It begins out on the foggy marshes, where a boy helps a runaway convict and is then summoned to Miss Havisham's decaying house. London follows: a sudden fortune from an unnamed patron, costly habits, debt, and Estella — raised since childhood to break hearts and feel nothing. As his twenty-first birthday nears, Pip waits to learn who has been shaping his life, and the answer upends everything he believed.
Gillian Anderson plays Miss Havisham, Ray Winstone the convict Magwitch, and the small scale keeps the weight on character rather than spectacle. A solid pick when you want the classic without the slow patches. Stream Great Expectations Season 1 online on iFILM.
