Synopsis
Mad God (2021) is Phil Tippett's stop-motion horror, available to watch online on iFILM. A silent figure called The Assassin descends a rope ladder into a ruined world and wanders a maze of nightmares.
There's barely a plot in the usual sense. Instead: rotting cities, gallows, faceless slaves, creatures stitched from flesh and gears, and deranged surgeons hunched over their experiments. Every frame was built and shot by hand — no CGI anywhere. The camera keeps taking you lower, level by level, each one nastier than the last.
Tippett is a visual-effects legend who animated creatures for Star Wars and Jurassic Park, and he pieced this together over three decades between studio gigs. It's not for everyone: no dialogue, no moral, just dense, tactile dread laced with pitch-black humor. A dream for fans of surrealism and old-school puppet animation.
