The Wages of Fear

The Wages of Fear (Le salaire de la peur, 2024) is a French action thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Julien Leclercq. An explosion at a desert oil well puts hundreds of lives at risk, and the only way to stop the disaster is to haul explosives to the site. The catch: the cargo is raw nitroglycerine.

A crew is thrown together fast — drivers with nothing left to lose climb into two trucks and set off across the burning sand. One bad pothole, one hard brake, and there's nothing left of the vehicle. Under a day to cover the distance, with landmines, ambushes and zero trust in the cab. Franck Gastambide and Alban Lenoir shoulder the tension while Leclercq stages the chases and blasts with his usual blunt edge.

This is a loose reworking of Georges Arnaud's novel and the classic 1953 film of the same name. The skeleton survives — the suicide cargo, the impossible drive — but everything else is rebuilt for modern Netflix action.
