Five years ago, Dennis Doyle bolted from his own wedding, leaving his pregnant fiancée Libby at the altar. He now drifts through life as a security guard at a lingerie shop, still hung up on her. The problem is Whit (Hank Azaria), Libby's slick, athletic new American boyfriend, who happens to be running the London Marathon. So Dennis, a man who only quits smoking when he runs out of cigarettes, signs up for the same 42 kilometres to prove he can finish something for once.

Pegg co-wrote the script with Michael Ian Black, and Dylan Moran and Stephen Merchant turn up alongside him. The comedy is shaggy and very English, funny enough to earn the lump in your throat it lands at the finish line.
