Synopsis
Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone (1989) is the first DBZ feature, and you can watch online on iFILM. At a brisk 41 minutes, it plays as a high-speed prologue to the series rather than a sprawling adventure.
Garlic Jr., son of an old enemy of Earth's guardian Kami, gathers the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality and snatches Goku's young son Gohan along the way. The rescue brings together Goku, Kami, Krillin, and Goku's bitter rival Piccolo. The fights barely let up, and the climax pulls everyone toward the Dead Zone, a pocket void with no way out. Masako Nozawa voices both Goku and Gohan, the sound of the franchise for decades.
Directed by Daisuke Nishio for Toei Animation, it's a lean, punchy outing built for action over plot. A solid pick for Dragon Ball fans and for newcomers who want a short, self-contained way into Z. Stream Dead Zone (1989) online on iFILM.
