Synopsis
The Perfect Host (2010) is a pitch-black crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. John Taylor has just robbed a bank, and now he's bleeding, hunted, and out of options. He talks his way into a stranger's home, claiming to be a friend of a friend who got mugged on his way into town.
The stranger is Warwick Wilson, and he's throwing a dinner party. The duck is timed for 8:30, the table is flawless, the wine is poured. Taylor figures he's landed an easy mark — a lonely, fussy host he can rob and ditch. He figures wrong. Warwick is hiding something far darker than the criminal at his door, and the night turns into a contest neither man fully controls. David Hyde Pierce, far from his Frasier comfort zone, plays Warwick with a chilling politeness that curdles into something deranged.
Director Nicholas Tomnay keeps it tight: one apartment, two performances, ninety minutes of shifting power. The film premiered at Sundance and built a quiet cult following among fans of nasty, unpredictable thrillers. If you like a plot that flips on you every ten minutes, this one earns its run.
