Synopsis

Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983) is the Disney short you can watch online on iFILM, handing Dickens over to the studio's most familiar faces. Scrooge McDuck plays the penny-pinching Ebenezer; Mickey Mouse takes the role of his overworked clerk, Bob Cratchit.

London, 1843. Old Scrooge hoards his coins and sneers at the season. On Christmas Eve three spirits arrive — Past, Present and Yet to Come — and walk him through his own life, from the warmth he threw away to the cold grave waiting if nothing changes. Goofy turns up as the ghostly Marley, the weasels from The Wind in the Willows make for genuinely creepy escorts, and tiny Tim Cratchit cracks even a miser's frozen heart.

Directed by Burny Mattinson, the film marked Mickey's first theatrical short in roughly thirty years, a deliberate comeback for the character. In 25 minutes it manages to be funny and quietly moving at once — an easy way to share the Dickens classic with kids without the heavy prose. Stream Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983) online on iFILM.
