Synopsis
Rurouni Kenshin Part I: Origins (2012) is a Japanese samurai action film you can watch online on iFILM. Adapted from Nobuhiro Watsuki's hit manga, it drops the hero into the raw early years of the Meiji era.
Kenshin Himura used to be Battosai the Killer, the deadliest assassin of the Bakumatsu wars. The revolution won, the blood dried, and the killer swore a vow: never take another life. Now he wanders Japan carrying a reverse-blade sword, its edge ground on the wrong side, defending the weak as a kind of penance. In Tokyo he meets Kaoru Kamiya, who runs her late father's struggling kendo school, and gets pulled into a fight against an industrialist flooding the city with opium behind a mask of progress. Takeru Sato leads as Kenshin.
Director Keishi Otomo pulls off the rare manga adaptation that actually works: real sets, acrobatic swordplay with barely any CGI, and a hero quietly choking on guilt for the man he once was. If you love Zatoichi or any quiet warrior haunted by his past, this clicks fast. Stream Rurouni Kenshin (2012) online on iFILM.
