Synopsis
Rurouni Kenshin Part II: Kyoto Inferno (2014) is a Japanese samurai action film you can watch online on iFILM. Former killer Kenshin Himura picks up his sword again to stop a man even deadlier than he once was.
Kenshin has settled into a quiet life beside Kaoru when the Meiji government comes asking for help. Out west, a threat is rising: Makoto Shishio, an assassin his own side betrayed, burned and left for dead. He lived, wrapped his scarred body in bandages, and gathered a fighting force in Kyoto to topple the new order and drag Japan back toward civil war. Against Kaoru's wishes, Kenshin leaves alone, bound by his vow never to kill, and edges step by step toward a clash that will decide the country's fate. Takeru Sato carries the wanderer, while Tatsuya Fujiwara turns Shishio into something genuinely chilling.
The second chapter in Keishi Otomo's trilogy, drawn from Nobuhiro Watsuki's hugely popular manga, goes big on scale: a burning Kyoto, huge crowds and hand-to-hand fights staged with surprisingly few cuts. It suits anyone who likes period action with real weight behind the blades, where guilt and atonement drive the drama. The ending is open by design, with the story continuing in the final film.
