Synopsis
The Outlaws (범죄도시, 2017) is a Korean crime-action hit from director Kang Yoon-sung that you can watch online on iFILM. Set in Seoul's Chinatown in 2004, it opens with three brutal newcomers gunning down a local crime boss and grabbing his turf overnight.
Their leader Jang Chen, played by Yoon Kye-sang, has no interest in the uneasy truce the district once kept. Standing in his way is Detective Ma Seok-do, a wall of a man brought to life by Ma Dong-seok, who tends to settle disputes with a single punch. The case turns personal fast, and the more savagely the gang carves up the neighborhood, the less reason Ma has to play by the book.
The plot is rooted in a real police crackdown in the Garibong area. The movie drew more than six million admissions in Korea and launched a whole franchise built around Ma's bone-rattling fists. A great pick if you want hard-hitting Asian action with a streak of dry humor. Stream The Outlaws (2017) online on iFILM.
