Season 1
Those who journey here will find only themselves.
Synopsis
The North Water (2021), Season 1 — five episodes of British crime drama streaming online on iFILM. Adapted from Ian McGuire's novel by director Andrew Haigh. Patrick Sumner (Jack O'Connell), a disgraced ex-army surgeon, signs on as ship's doctor to a Hull whaling vessel heading for the Arctic — a man who needs to vanish from his own life, and ice seems far enough.
Henry Drax (Colin Farrell) is already on board. Harpooner. A man for whom brutality isn't a tool but a nature. When a crewman turns up dead, Sumner can identify the killer with certainty and prove nothing. The ship moves north. An arctic storm scatters men across the ice. Betrayal within the ship's command closes every remaining exit.
Haigh films it without softening: no scenic grandeur, no redemption arc handed out cheaply. Two men at opposite poles of what a person can become, trapped in the same frozen mile of ocean. Stream The North Water Season 1 online on iFILM.
